Telegraph: Scottish Power and British Gas join the energy bills complaints list of shame

It’s not just npower that is failing customers. Telegraph Money is hearing from increasing numbers of Scottish Power and, more recently, British Gas customers who can’t resolve their billing problems.

And official figures reflect our mailbag. The Citizens Advice Bureau said that in the first three months of the year Scottish Power received almost 200 complaints for every 100,000 customers. This was double the 100 complaints for every 100,000 customers in the three months to December.

Telegraph Money and our consumer champion Jessica Gorst-Williams have been inundated with complaints from Scottish Power customers since it changed its billing system last year. A batch of these were sent to the supplier this week for investigation.

British Gas received 75 complaints per 100,000 customers between January-March, compared with 54 in the previous three months.
