Sembcorp Lands LNG Vessel Contracts

Singaporean offshore engineering group Sembcorp Marine has secured three orders for new LNG projects.

The contractor has been hired by Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and Turkey’s Karpower International to convert the Dwiputra LNG carrier into a 125,000 m3 floating storage and gasification unit (FSRU), it said on September 2. It has also been contracted to convert LNG Flora, a former gas tanker of Japan’s NYK Line, into a 127,000 m3 floating storage unit (FSU) for European LNG infrastructure developer Gasfin Development. Finally, it has been awarded a contract to upgrade the 173,400-m3 FSRU BW Magna for Bermuda-based maritime group BW.

Work on all three projects will take place at Sembcorp’s yard in Singapore, with the vessels due for delivery by February next year.
