Reuters: Serbia to raise gas prices in August

Serbian energy regulator AERS has approved average increases in retail gas prices of up to 1.3 percent for households and up to 1.4 percent for businesses starting in August, it said on Wednesday.

The increases are the first in 2014 and will boost the average price to 45.4 Serbian dinars ($0.53) per cubic metre (cm) for households and to 42.3 dinars for businesses, the regulator said.

The rise reflects the accumulated cost of imported and domestically produced natural gas since last December, when the regulator cut rates for households and businesses by up to 3.4 percent and 3.5 percent, respectively, AERS said.

Serbia, which imports almost all of its natural gas from Russia through a single pipeline via Hungary and Ukraine, is looking to broaden its gas supply routes.
