Serinus starts drilling Moftinu Nord-1 probe
Serinus Energy said September 20 it had kicked off drilling of its Moftinu Nord-1 exploration well in the northern section of Romania's Carei Basin.
Moftinu Nord-1 will be drilled to an approximate depth of 1,000 m, on the way targeting four prospective hydrocarbon zones. Moftinu Nord lies in the northern part of the Carei Basin. The first exploration well is seeking to uncover hydrocarbons on the path from the Carei Basin, testing a different structure type than Serinus's recently completed Canar-1 well, which found only residual gas shows.
If successful, Moftinu Nord-1 will be connected to Serinus's existing 15mn ft3/d Moftinu gas plant. The aim is to expand the production base of Serinus's existing Moftinu gas field, utilising existing plant capacity.
