Sevana Bioenergy acquires Rialto Bioenergy facility in California
Sevana Bioenergy, an Idaho-based renewable natural gas (RNG) company, announced on June 10 that it had acquired the Rialto Bioenergy facility located in Rialto, California.
The Rialto facility is the largest organic waste-to-energy facility in North America, with a permitted capacity of 1,000 tonnes/day, comprising a combination of food waste separated from municipal solid waste and municipal biosolids. The plant is designed to convert these organic waste streams into 1mn mmBtu/year of RNG and soil products.
“This acquisition strengthens our presence on the West Coast and allows us to continue playing a vital role in helping California achieve its ambitious renewable energy and waste diversion goals,” said John McKinney, CEO of Sevana Bioenergy.
Sevana Bioenergy plans to integrate the Rialto Bioenergy facility into its existing portfolio of anaerobic digestion facilities.
