Shah Deniz Awards Six Construction Contracts
The Shah Deniz and South Caucasus Pipeline consortia awarded project management services and construction contracts for the development of the Shah Deniz Stage 2 and South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion (SCPX) projects.
‘The contract awards underpin the schedule for project delivery and complement the progress being made across multiple areas of this major development,’ reads a note released by BP on Wednesday.
The two consortia signed six contracts for $841 million. The main contract has been awarded to the Bechtel Enka joint venture, which is comprised of Bechtel International and ENKA İnşaat ve Sanayi. The contract envisages the construction and commissioning support of the SCPX project facilities in Georgia, with the completion of the works in 2018.
“We are very pleased to announce these contracts They underpin the tremendous progress that has been made since our final investment decision was taken in December,” Gordon Birrell, Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey of BP, commented on Monday.
The Shah Deniz field is operated by BP, which holds a 25.5% share. Other partners include Statoil (25.5%), SOCAR (10%), Total (10%), and LUKoil (10%), NIOC (10%), and TPAO (9%).
