WBJ: Shale gas laws within two months - Grabowski
Environment Minister Maciej Grabowski told Polish Radio on Monday that he hoped for the adoption of shale gas regulations by the Sejm within the next two months. Work on the legislation has been going on for more than two years.
Grabowski said that in his opinion it is not the lack of regulations but the assessment of gas deposits that is decisive for companies’ presence in Poland’s shale sector. “Good results may cause a boom and there will be more companies interested than there are now,” he added. He however said that he understands that business needs to know the rules and taxation levels.
The minister added that both Poland and Europe as a whole needs to know more about the level of shale gas deposits. “We would like to have an independent report, which will act as groundwork for further discussion based on facts and not political in nature,” he said.
