Siemens to Supply Turbines for Russian LNG Project: Press

German's Siemens has won a joint contract worth 130mn ($145mn) to supply equipment for Novatek's Obsk LNG project, the Moscow-based Kommersant newspaper reported on March 16, citing sources.

The contract was awarded jointly to Siemens and Kazancompressormash, part of Russian engineering group HMS. Siemens will provide seven SGT-700 turbines, while Kazancompressormash will supply 10 compressors. An engineering plant owned by Russian nuclear firm Rosatom has also been selected to deliver the project's cryogenic heat exchangers.

Novatek aims to take a final investment decision on Obsk LNG later this year, and bring the plant into operation in late 2022 or early 2023. It will consist of three liquefaction trains each capable of producing 1.6mn mt/yr of LNG.
