Singapore shortlists two consortia for ammonia power and bunkering project
SINGAPORE, July 25 (Reuters) - Singapore's Energy Market Authority (EMA) and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) have shortlisted two consortia for the next proposal evaluation round of an ammonia power and bunkering project, they said in a joint statement on Thursday.
The project aims to develop a low- or zero-carbon ammonia project on Jurong Island in Singapore to generate power and explore ammonia as a potential marine fuel.

The two shortlisted consortia were Keppel's Infrastructure Division and Sembcorp-SLNG, who will conduct engineering, safety and emergency response studies for the proposed project.
The bunkering players include Itochu Corporation, Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha and Sumitomo Corporation.
The authorities will select one of the two bidders as the lead developer by the first quarter of 2025, the EMA and the MPA said.
An expression of interest (EOI) for the ammonia project was launched in 2022.
The project aims to generate 55 to 65 megawatt (MW) of electricity from imported low- or zero-carbon ammonia via direct combustion in a gas turbine or combined cycle gas turbine.
It will also facilitate ammonia bunkering at a capacity of at least 100,000 metric tons per year, starting with supplies from land followed by ship-to-ship bunkering.
