Sinopec Flows Gas from Jiaoye-8 Shale Well in Fuling
Sinopec Corp. has recorded 208,000 cubic meters of daily output from Jiaoye-8 shale gas well in Fuling area of southwest China's Chongqing municipality, reported Xinhua Finance Agency Tuesday.
The shale gas well lies on the outskirt of Jiaoshiba work zone and is 53 km meters south of Jiaoye-1 well. The successful testing of Jiaoye-8 adds around 100 billion cubic meters of shale gas resources in Pingqiao faulted anticline with an area of 110 square km, the company announced.
Drilling of Jiaoye-8 well was started on August 30, 2014 and competed in May. Jiaoye-8 well would offer support to build 5 billion cubic meters of shale gas production capacity in the second phase.
Sinopec is aiming to build 5 billion cubic meters and 10 billion cubic meters of shale gas production capacity in Fuling area by the end of 2015 and 2017, respectively, Xinhua Finance reported.
Last year, Sinopec’s Fuling field was verified by Chinese government as country’s largest shale gas play. The Ministry of Land and Resources verified proven reserves of nearly 107 billion cubic metres (bcm) in the Fuling shale gas field.
In July this year, the company said the field produced 970 million cubic meters of gas in the first six months of 2015.
