Sinopec puts China's largest LNG storage tank into use

Chinese state-owned energy firm Sinopec has put China's largest LNG storage tank into use at its Qingdao LNG receiving station, the company said on November 3.

The new 270,000 m3 storage tank will add an additional 165mn m3 of gas storage capacity to the Qingdao LNG receiving station. This is enough to meet the gas needs of 2.16mn households during the winter season, Sinopec said.

The newly commissioned storage tank at the Qingdao terminal has a diameter of 100.6 meters and a height of 55 meters. The construction work took 18 months.

Sinopec has also completed the second phase of the Tianjin LNG receiving terminal, adding more than 400mn m3 of gas storage capacity.
