Sinopec Starts Gas Processing Plant in South East China

Sinopec Corp has started a processing plant that treats high-sulphur natural gas extracted from Yuanba field in south east China, the company said on Thursday.

Yuanba gas field in Sichuan, spread over an area of ​​3,200 square kilometers, has proven reserves of 219.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

According to Sinopec, Yuanba field will be able to produce 3.4 billion cubic metres of gas a year by end of 2015 compared with 1.7 bcm/year output currently, the company added.

When it is in full operation, Sinopec will supply Yuanba gas via pipeline to central and east China.

Earlier his week, Sinopec announced it will increase domestic gas supplies during November-March by 11 percent to 8.4 billion cubic meters (bcm) to meet winter demand.

The company further said that its gas production is expected to go up by 8 percent on year to 20 bcm aided by supplies from conventional fields such as Zhongyuan and shale gas field at Fuling in Chongqing.
