Sinopec's 2015 Shale Gas Production Expected at 3.5 Bcm

State owned Sinopec Corp. may end the year with shale gas production of about 3.5 billion cubic meters.

Jin Zhijun, president of Sinopec's Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development said these figures would be lower than the target the company has set for 2015, reported Xinhua Finance Agency Monday.

Shale gas output till the end of October stood at almost 2 bcm, Xinhau Finance quoted Jin as saying.

Sinopec has 150 shale gas wells in trial operation in Fuling area of southwest China's Chongqing municipality.

China consumed 132.2 bcm of natural gas consumption during Jan-Sep, an increase of 2.5 percent year-on-year, according to data issued by the National Development and Reform Commission.
