Sinopec produces record shale gas at Fuling in 2022

Sinopec’s Fuling shale gas field in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality produced record volumes of shale gas last year, the state-owned Xinhua news agency reported on January 1.

The output from the field reached 7.2bn m3 in 2022, up 0.5% year/year. More than 650 old wells in Fuling contributed about 6.5bn m3 of production.

Fuling became operational in 2014 and serves as a key source of supply for the Sichuan-East pipeline. Sinopec recently added 104.9bn m3 of proven reserves, bringing the field’s total proven reserves to nearly 900bn m3, accounting for 34% of China's total proven reserves of shale gas.

Sinopec last year said it plans to produce 1,256.7bn ft3 or 35.59bn m3 of natural gas in 2022, up 4.8% yr/yr.
