Skangass’s Gas to Replace Fuel Oil in SSAB Plant in Sweden

Skangass entered into a long-term agreement for supply of natural gas to the Sweden’s SSAB in Borlänge. The natural gas will replace fuel oil in one part of the production process at SSAB.

‘The usage of natural gas will lead to a considerable reduction of CO2 emission in Borlänge. Annual emission will be reduced by 40.000 tons. This is comparable to the emission size of 22.000 diesel vehicles annually driving 15.000 kilometres,’ reads the note released on Wednesday.

According the agreement, Skangass and SSAB will build a regasification terminal at SSAB’s premises in Borlänge.

”We are very proud and content to be able to contribute to SSAB’s convertion to a more environmentally friendly fuel than todays fuel oil. Skangass is rapidly growing. This agreement together with the establishment of Sweden’s largest receiving terminal for liquefied natural gas in Lysekil are important steps in our further development in Scandinavia,” Roger Göthberg, Sales and Marketing Director in Skangass commented.

Skangass produce LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) at their plant in Risavika, outside Stavanger
