NGE Notes: Slovakia to Boost Gas Deliveries to Ukraine

Slovakia plans to increase reverse gas supplies to Ukraine by 26% to 14.5 billion cubic meters starting from March 1, according to an official statement issued on Friday following the meeting between Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Fico said that Slovakia plans to increase the reverse flow via the Uzhhorod-Vojany pipeline from 11.5 to 14.5 billion cubic meters from March 1. "We are reaching 1/3 of your domestic consumption". At the same time he noted that a strategic task of the two countries was to preserve the transit character of Ukraine and Slovakia.

Reverse gas supply via "Vojany-Uzhhorod" launched on September 2nd.

"The increase of the gas pipeline capacity up to 40 million cubic meters per day starting from January 30 fully meets the interests of Ukraine. We are interested in the immediate launch of great reverse from Slovakia," Poroshenko said.
