Slovenia Signs Final Investment Decision on South Stream Pipeline
Gazprom and Slovenia have signed a final deal to build the Slovenian setion of the South Stream gas pipeline.
In a statement issued today, Gazprom said that the deal was signed by its CEO Alexei Miller and Slovenia’s Plinovodi d.o.o. General Director Marjan Eberlinc in the presence of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
"The adoption of a final investment decision today - this is another important step in the implementation of the project" South Stream ", is another step in our work aimed at improving the security of supply of gas to Europe.
Speaking of Slovenia, it should be noted that the construction of the gas pipeline 266 km and 2 compressor stations will attract significant investment, create jobs and provide the country with additional infrastructure," said Miller
The agreement with Serbia follows previously signed similar deals with Hungary and Serbia.
The South Stream pipeline, projected to cost $16 billion, will transport up to 63 billion cubic meters of natural gas to central and southern Europe along the Black Sea seabed.
Commercial deliveries of natural gas to Europe are expected to start in the first quarter of 2016.
