Sonatrach Commits to 70 Billion in Shale Investments over 20 Years
Sonatrach will invest at least 70 billion dollars over 20 years into exploration of shale gas in Algeria, said the CEO of the company.
The company aims at producing 20 bcm of shale gas a year, Sonatrach’s Said Sahnoun told a local public radio on Sunday.
Sahnoun’s declarations indicate that the country should drill 200 wells per year. At the moment, just one well has been drilled in the In Salah region.
“The pilot well In Salah is in the process of producing clean gas. There is a control of water releases” Sahnoun commented.
