Focus: Four organisations appeal South Stream construction permit

The last-minute decision of the former government to issue construction permits for two South Stream infrastructure objects has been contested by a number of organisations in the country, Capital Daily reads.

According to the newspaper, two parties – the Reformist Bloc and the Greens, and two NGOs - the Civil League for Bulgaria and the Institute for Green Politics, have appealed the permit.

Capital Daily also quotes former energy minister Dragomir Stoynev as saying that two of the five Bulgarian companies, selected to implement the South Stream pipeline’s section in the country, have been removed from the project, following media allegations linking them with infamous media mogul Delyan Peevski and Tsvetan Vasilev’s Corporate Commercial Bank (the bank of choice for bosses of state-owned energy enterprises in Bulgaria).
