Standart: South Stream to fill BG treasury from next year

The South Stream pipeline is the hidden ace card which will accelerate the economic growth of the Bulgarian economy, BSP MP Rumen Getchev stated during yesterday's plenary discussion of the 2014 budget. He explained that the effect of the South Stream is not incorporated in the budget draft for the next year due to organizational reasons. However, according to the MP, the project will bring extraordinary benefits to the development of the domestic economy and will increase government revenues.

Given the fact that the EUR 3.5 billion mega project was not counted upon by the 2014 budget, the South Staream will rise the scheduled 1.8% GDP growth to above 2% in 2014, Finance Minister Petar Chobanov said earlier. The improved performance is expected to result from the employment and extra revenues resulting from the construction start of the Bulgarian section of the pipeline, the minister added.  MORE
