LAHT: Spanish Minister: Europe Needs Integrated Energy Market to Avoid Shortages
Spanish Industry, Energy and Tourism Minister Jose Manuel Soria said during a conference in Mexico that Europe needed to develop an integrated energy market to prevent future shortages of energy products.
Soria spoke Saturday at the Atlantic Energy Forum organized by Johns Hopkins University in the Mexican resort city of Cancun, the Spanish Industry, Energy and Tourism Ministry said.
The forum is a gathering of high-level public and private sector officials, who discuss opportunities and challenges in the energy industry.
Soria chaired the “Pan-Atlantic Energy Cooperation” session, which addressed the industry’s future challenges. The main challenge is rapid growth in demand for energy products on the part of developing countries as standards of living rise, Soria said.
