Statoil Spuds at Jette

Norwegian Energy Company (Noreco) has announced that work has begun on the Jette prospect in the Norwegian Sea after operator Statoil spudded the well.

The well, which was previously approved by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) will be drilled using the West Alpha drilling rig. It will be drilled to a depth of 4,351 metres. The well will target prospects in the Upper and Middle Jurassic sandstones at the prospect, which is expected to have condensate reservoirs of between 35 – 210 million barrels of oil equivalent gross.

Drilling on the well, well 6607/12-3, is expected to take 65 days with the well to be plugged at the end of that time.

Statoil is the operator of the Jette prospect, which is held under licence PL385, with a 45 per cent stake in the licence. Noreco holds a 20 per cent stake in the project, as does Dong Energy, while North Energy holds a 15 per cent stake.
