Stork Wins Work At Centrica's UK Assets
US-based Fluor’s Stork subsidiary has secured a contract extension for fabric maintenance and related services at assets belonging to the UK utility Centrica.
The extension covers services at platforms stationed at the Rough gas field in the southern North Sea, as well as the Easington terminal in Yorkshire that receives its gas, Fluor said on August 1. Rough was first developed in the 1960s and is now nearing the end of its production life. It is not among the upstream assets that Centrica is planning to sell.
From next year, Centrica will process gas from the Tolmount field in the Southern North Sea. The contract will extend the life of the Easington terminal until at least 2030, creating hundreds of jobs during the construction phase and securing 80 over the lifetime of the contract, Centrica said last year.
Stork has been maintaining Centrica’s UK assets under a fixed-term contract since 2009. The contract extension came into force in June, Fluor said, and will automatically renew each year. Stork will work with specialist access systems including scaffolding, integrity engineering, non-destructive testing, bolting services, advanced online desanding as well as surface preparation and coatings.
Fluor booked the contract in its second-quarter results, but has not disclosed its value.
