Voice of Russia: Study confirms expediency of more Nord Stream branches – Gazprom

Nord Stream AG, the Nord Stream gas pipeline's operator, has conducted a feasibility study showing that construction of one of two additional pipeline branches is economically expedient, technically and ecologically feasible and investment-attractive, Russia’s Gazprom, a major shareholder in the Nord Stream project, said in a statement on Wednesday following a meeting between Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and Nord Stream AG Managing Director Mattias Varnig earlier in the day.

The meeting highlighted the possibility of boosting the gas transportation capacity of the trans-Baltic Sea pipeline by building one or two additional branches.

Gazprom examined Nord Stream AG’s feasibility report as well as experts’ recommendations made during consultations with government agencies, noncommercial organizations and other Baltic parties concerned. MORE
