Study: Ukrainian Gas Infrastructure Improvements Will Cost $4.8 Billion
A study conducted by consultancy group Mott MacDonald has put the cost of modernising and reconstructing Ukraine's existing gas infrastructure at approximately $4.8 billion. The updates will be necessary over the next seven years.
The feasibility study, which was ordered by Ukrainian state-owned gas company, Naftogaz Ukrainy, took into account the potential costs of improving the Southern and Northern gas corridors in Ukraine.
The cost will cover the implementation of new gas metering stations, infrastructure repairs and the planned Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorodgas pipeline.
The study also disputed Gazprom's assessment of the technical conditions of Ukraine's pipelines, which are in better condition than the company said, the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia Ukraine newspaper reports.
