Sunbird Energy Gets Good Result from First South Africa CSG Well

Sunbird Energy has received encouraging initial gas desorption measurements from the first core hole at its Mopane coal seam gas project in South Africa, Proactive Investors Australia has reported.

Gas content results of up to 7.54 cubic metres per ton exceed the independent best estimate of 2.83 cubic metres per ton.

The results demonstrate that the Mopane coal seams have high levels of gas saturation, making the project an attractive development opportunity with three main production intervals of between 5 and 12 metres thickness, the report said.

Sunbird has now completed the pilot hole drilling of the six remaining core holes at Mopane to depths of about 100 metres to 200 metres.

Mopane covers 1,577 square kilometres and is held by Sunbird (74%) and Umbono (26%).
