South Wales Evening Post: Campaigner says shale gas report is just 'hot air'

A SWANSEA campaigner has challenged new assurances that Britain can "frack" for gas and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions at the same time.

Keith Ross, of Safe Energy Wales, said he welcomed some of Ed Davey's speech.

In it, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change referred to a Government-commissioned report looking at shale gas and the UK's targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The minister said: "This report shows that the continued use of gas is perfectly consistent with our carbon budgets over the next couple of decades. MORE
