TechnipFMC secures contract from Woodside for Pluto LNG project

TechnipFMC has secured a "significant" contract from Woodside Energy in Australia. The contract, announced on May 13, falls within the range of $75mn to $250mn. 

Under the terms of the contract, TechnipFMC will provide integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation services for the Xena infill well as part of the Pluto LNG project. This includes the design, manufacturing, and installation of the subsea production system, flexible pipe, and umbilicals to support ongoing production from the Pluto LNG project. The award follows an integrated front-end engineering design (iFEED) study conducted by TechnipFMC.

The project will leverage TechnipFMC's Subsea 2.0 production system and will tie back to existing subsea infrastructure previously supplied by the company. 

Pluto LNG processes gas from the offshore Pluto and Xena gas fields in Western Australia. Gas is piped through a 180 km trunkline to a single onshore LNG-processing train. Pluto LNG is underpinned by long-term sales agreements with Kansai Electric and Tokyo Gas, which each hold a 5% interest in the project.

Woodside is developing a brownfield expansion of Pluto LNG through the construction of a second gas processing train. Pluto Train 2 would have a capacity of about 5mn tonnes/year.

Woodside recently announced the completion of the sale of a 10% non-operating participating interest in the Scarborough joint venture to LJ Scarborough (LNG Japan). The Scarborough project, situated approximately 375 km off the coast of Western Australia, includes the Scarborough joint venture, the Pluto Train 2 joint venture, and modifications to Pluto Train 1 to accommodate Scarborough gas.
