TechnipFMC wins iEPCI contract from Energean for Katlan development

TechnipFMC has been awarded a “large” integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (iEPCI) contract by Energean for its Katlan development in the Mediterranean Sea, the company announced on July 18. For TechnipFMC, a "large" contract ranges between $500mn and $1bn.

This project marks Energean’s first use of TechnipFMC’s configure-to-order Subsea 2.0 production systems. The award follows an integrated front-end engineering and design (iFEED) study by TechnipFMC, which optimised the commercial and technological solution for the field. The contract includes the design, manufacture, and installation of production systems, pipes, umbilicals, and subsea structures.

The subsea infrastructure will be connected to the Energean Power floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (FPSO), which currently serves the Karish and Karish North developments. TechnipFMC also provided fully integrated subsea solutions utilizing their iEPCI execution model for these developments.

Katlan is a newly discovered collection of structures offshore Israel. Following a successful exploration campaign in 2022, the field contains 1.1 trillion ft3 of gas 2P reserves. Including liquids, total 2P reserves for Katlan amount to 205.9mn barrels of oil equivalent.

The development of Katlan will follow the Karish and Karish North fields. A field development plan was approved by the Israeli Government in 2023. Phase 1a will focus on the Athena and Zeus structures, while Phase 1b will target Hera and Apollo.
