The 27th OGT – 2022 to show teasers for new investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan

Delegates coming to the OGT 2022 Conference will have more than speeches to listen to or presentations to watch. They will have an opportunity to get a first-hand view of the latest investment opportunities in the oil & gas sector of Turkmenistan and technological innovations from the key national and international oil and gas companies (NOCs and IOCs) as this year the OGT 2022 will curate an Expo alongside its annual Conference!

Both the Conference and Expo will continue for three days, from the 26th through the 28th of October 2022. An official opening ceremony of the exhibition hall will be attended by high-level representatives from the government, diplomatic missions, academia, and the business community. The ceremonial opening is invitation-only and will proceed with the plenary session on one of the globally pressing issues – the challenges and opportunities of the future of energy. The other five sessions are dedicated to themes ranging from the specific investment opportunities of newly proffered fields to brainstorming ideas for innovative technologies and environmental aspects of hydrocarbon development and renewable energy.

Many of the Conference speakers are industry leaders who lead the most successful oil and gas companies operating in Turkmenistan and abroad, such as Hou Qijun, the President of CNPC, Rovshan Najaf, the President of SOCAR, Ali Al Jarwan, the CEO of Dragon Oil, and Boris Levenshtein, the CEO of Mitro International. While few of this year’s OGT speakers are new names on its agenda, most have been attending and presenting at the OGT consistently throughout many years. For instance, among the annual speakers, there are such key decision-makers as Dmitri Shlapachenko, the UN Resident Coordinator, Manfredi Caltagirone, Head of the International Emissions Observatory, and John MacGregor, Ambassador and Head of the Ashgabat OSCE Center. Alongside industry leaders and key policy-makers, there are also notable researchers and academicians who have contributed to the R&D of making the oil and gas sector more efficient and less damaging to the environment. They include distinguished speakers such as Irina Luryeva, Laboratory Head of the Scientific Research Institute of the State Concern “Turkmengas,” John M. Roberts, Advisory Board Member of the UNECE, and Dr. Victor Nian Co-founder and CEO of the Center of Strategic Energy and Resources of Singapore University. While speeches and presentations during the OGT 2022 will facilitate the unveiling of new investment opportunities, discussing challenges, and sharing of experiences, activities beyond the Conference and Expo halls set the platform to catch up with other fellow business people, government officials, and international representatives. Within the Conference venue, there will be multiple coffee breaks for delegates to chat and network. To ensure that all delegates, and especially international delegates, have a meaningful OGT 2022 experience, the organizers with the support of partners are offering cocktail receptions, lunches, and dinners at various top-notch restaurants in Ashgabat. For gratis to all delegates, there is also a plan for a sightseeing tour of Ashgabat and a round of golf.

The registration numbers indicate there will be a diverse assembly of delegates, coming from 70 different countries, representing around 100 international and national companies, around 20 international and diplomatic organizations, and more than 100 government and national entities. In total, more than 400 delegates are expected to attend the OGT 2022 Conference and Expo. Though registration for in-person attendance is closed, online participation is still open.
