Three added to BC hydrogen consortium
The British Columbia Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) said September 22 three new members had joined its BC Hydrogen Changemakers Consortium (BCHCC), announced in June to advance the hydrogen economy in Canada’s westernmost province.
Joining the group are provincial crown power utility BC Hydro and Power Authority, industrial gases company Air Products Canada and Toyota Tsusho Canada, the Canadian trading arm of the Japanese car maker.
BCHCC is targeting the development of hydrogen hubs in BC by building strategic partnerships and leveraging the province’s clean energy resources to create a leadership position in low-carbon hydrogen.
“Success in creating the low-carbon hydrogen economy is anchored on accelerating the pace of investment in hydrogen demand and infrastructure projects,” said Yemi Adefulu, CICE’s deputy executive director. “The growth of the consortium is an indication that BC continues to be well positioned to play a pivotal role in the global clean energy transition.”
CICE, in conjunction with the BCHCC, is close to releasing its BC Hydrogen Investment Blueprint, which will focus on fostering investments across the hydrogen value chain and creating the foundation for the first hydrogen hub in the province, in the Metro Vancouver region.
