New Tight Gas Policy for Pakistan

The Pakistani Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Asim Hussain, has approved and signed the Tight Gas Policy.

Pakistan is concentrating efforts on gas exploration and extraction in order to overcome an energy shortage.

The Minister said that the 2009 Gas Policy will be revised and the new 2011 Gas Policy will be issued with a better pricing structure to encourage investors to invest heavily in the gas exploration and extraction sector.

According to Asim, Pakistan sits on huge reservoirs of gas that lay untapped.
