The Nariin Sukhait area is known to contain two very thick, high quality, coalbed groups and historical CBM data acquired from a series of five wells indicates high gas contents. The drilling program has been designed to intersect these thick coalbeds at suitable depths for CBM development, TMK said. The drilling programme will be funded by TMK’s partner Talon Energy under an existing farm out agreement.

The project covers an area of 8,400 km2 and is situated around 20 km from the Chinese-Mongolian border and close to the northern China gas transmission and distribution network.

TMK last week completed the the acquisition of Telmen Energy, which held a 100% interest in the Gurvantes XXXV project.
