Tokyo Gas August Gas Sales Down 0.4%
Tokyo Gas sold 1.21bn m3 of natural gas during August, down 0.4% on the previous year, the Japanese utility said September 14.
In the residential sector, volume totaled 138.33mn m3, up 5.9% from August 2015, as lower average temperature resulted in increased demand for water-heating, the company said. In the business sector, consisting of commercial, public, and medical use, volume totaled 254.54mn m3, down 1.6% from the same period last year. The usage dropped as low temperature led to decrease in demand for air-conditioning.
In the industrial sector, volume totaled 654mn m3, up 0.8% from August 2015. Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled 169.584mn m3, down 7.6% on year.
Meanwhile, earlier this week Tokyo Gas received its first LNG cargo of 70,000 tn from the Gorgon LNG project operated in Western Australia by Chevron. The cargo was received at the Tokyo Gas Ohgishima LNG terminal in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, the utility said September 12.
