Tokyo Gas Completes Hitachi LNG Terminal
Tokyo Gas has completed construction of Hitachi LNG terminal in Hitachi Port area and started operations.
The company has also begun using Ibaraki-Tochigi line, newly constructed high pressure trunk line, Tokyo Gas said in a statement Friday. The LNG terminal is equipped with a 230,000-kilolitre LNG tank that can hold about 100,000-110,000 tons of chilled gas.
Hitachi terminal is company’s first LNG terminal, located outside Tokyo Bay. By completing Ibaraki-Tochigi line, Tokyo Gas now owns 950km of high pressure pipeline network mainly around Tokyo metropolitan area.
Tokyo Gas started construction of the terminal and Ibaraki-Tochigi line in 2012 in order to meet the future growth of gas demand. The company plans to construct second LNG storage tank in Hitachi LNG terminal by 2020.
