Total to Ensure Continuity After Death of CEO in Moscow
Christophe de Margerie, Total’s CEO and Chairman, died in an incident in Moscow on Tuesday.
‘Mr. de Margerie was killed when his jet collided with a snowplow as it was taking off, shortly after 10:00 p.m. CET at Vnukovo airport in Moscow,’ reads a note released on Tuesday.
Total’s Chief Administrative Officer Jean-Jacques Guilbaud said the company will ensure the continuity of both its governance and its businesses.
‘The Governance and Ethics Committee … will meet as soon as possible. This will be immediately followed by a meeting of the Board of Directors to make the necessary decisions.’
