TotalEnergies starts gas production from Fenix gas field offshore Argentina

TotalEnergies on September 20 announced the commencement of production from the Fenix gas field, situated 60 km off the coast of Tierra del Fuego, Southern Argentina.

The Fenix field is part of the Cuenca Marina Austral 1 (CMA-1) concession, where TotalEnergies holds a 37.5% operating interest, partnering with Harbour Energy (37.5%) and Pan American Energy (25%).

The Fenix development, with a production capacity of 10mn m³/day (70,000 boe/day), includes a new unmanned platform positioned at 70 m water depth and connected to the existing CMA-1 facilities. Gas from the field is transported via a 35-km subsea pipeline to TotalEnergies' Véga Pléyade platform, before being processed onshore at the company-operated Río Cullen and Cañadon Alfa facilities.

Javier Rielo, Senior Vice President Americas, Exploration & Production at TotalEnergies, highlighted that the Fenix project was completed ahead of schedule, just two years after the final investment decision (FID). He noted that Fenix will help sustain gas production levels in Tierra del Fuego and ensure a stable supply to the Argentine market.
