Voice of Russia: Traditional energy resources to remain important despite 'shale revolution' - Medvedev
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday that traditional energy resources would remain important for the world for a long time despite the shale revolution. "The world is already feeling the impact of the shale revolution, which is taking place in the United States and many other countries. Nevertheless, traditional energy production methods will continue playing the key role in global markets," Medvedev stated.
He believes that the status quo will be preserved in the long-term perspective. The Russian Prime Minister, is attending the 14th ministerial meeting of the International Energy Forum.
Russia could supply one fifth of the world market for liquefied natural gas by 2025, a project for Russia's energy strategy until 2035, developed by the Ministry of Energy, states. So-called independent producers will provide the major growth of LNG’s export through developing new fields.
