Turkey Likely to Sign Major Gas Supply Deal With Qatar
According to reports in local Turkish media, Turkey is expected to sign a 1.2 bilion cubic meter gas deal with Qatar.
The deal is expected to be signed during the visit, which begins Monday, of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Energy Minister Taner Yıldız to the Gulf state, media reports stated.
Turkey consumes around 45 billion cubic meters of gas every year. Country’s major suppliers of gas are Algeria and Nigeria.
According to estimates, in 2013, Qatar had raw gas reserves totaling 872 tn cubic feet, third largest after Russia and Iran. Around 52.6% of gas production was allocated to LNG exports.
