Turkey Ready to Buy More Iranian Gas if Price Reduced

Turkey is ready to buy more gas from Iran if the price were lower, Press TV  quoted President Tayyip Erdogan as saying.

“We purchase 90-95 percent of Iran’s exported natural gas. The most expensive natural gas that we import is from Iran. If this price were lowered, of course we would increase the amount of natural gas we buy from Iran,” Erdogan said at a joint press conference with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran on Tuesday, Press TV reported.

Tehran charges $490 for every 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas it exports to Turkey, which claims that the Azerbaijan and Russia supply gas at $335 and $425 per 1,000 cubic meters, respectively.

As per the deal in existence, Turkey has been buying 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Iran per year since 2001.
