Turkey Says Iran's Gas Price Discount Proposal Not Enough

Iran's gas price discount proposal to Turkey is not sufficient, said Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz on Tuesday after attending a Turkey-Iran Business Forum in Ankara, reports Anadolu Agency.

The minster said that Turkey also refused Iran’s condition Ankara withdraw from the five-month-old arbitration talks on the price Tehran charges for natural gas.

The latest concession from Iran was two months ago when it offered a potential discount if Turkey increases the amount it buys, reports Anadolu Agency

“Iran’s offer did not have a concrete price discount,” Yildiz said.

According to Anadolu Agency, the two parties will continue talks related to price discount next week.

Turkey imports 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas at a price of $507 per cubic meters, while Russia supplies gas at $429 for the same amount.
