Turkey Will Transport Iraqi Gas
Turkish Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz has said that his country will carry Iraqi gas through Turkey.
Speaking to journalists today, Minister Yildiz said the two countries were currently involved in negotiations to see Iraqi gas being transported through Turkish land.
"Iraq can take advantage of Turkey's extensive experience in gas export," the Trend news agency reports the minister as saying. "In the case of this project's delivery, the Iraqi gas will come to the world market in the near future."
The minister said that Turkey would provide not just the land with which to transport the gas but also its assistance to the project.
The Trend news agency also reports that a deal between Turkey and Qatar for the purchase of liquefied natural gas was also nearing a close, with Minister Yildiz saying the two countries have agreed almost all issues in the deal.
