Turkmenistan Looking to Diversify its Gas Export Market

Turkmenistan, which has abundant supplies of natural gas, is looking to diversify its gas export markets, Turkmen Ambassador to Azerbaijan Toyli Komekov told reporters, Trend news agency reported.

"At present, Turkmenistan exports natural gas in various directions, which include Russia, China and Iran. At the same time Turkmenistan considers other directions of energy supply," Komekov said.

He said TAPI pipeline project is step in that direction and work is actively underway on the implementation of the project. Komekov added that the country is also ready to export gas to Europe.

"Any energy project of Turkmenistan comes to ensuring global energy security. Therefore, the Turkmen side is ready to hold and is already holding consultations and work in all directions, including on supplies of Turkmen gas to Europe," Trend quoted him as saying.
