UAE Invited by Tanzania to Explore for Oil, Gas
Tanzania has invited investors from the United Arab Emirates to participate in the development of its oil and gas resources, Reuters said citing a statement from Tanzania’s president’s office.
The African nation has emerged as an important energy destination after significant gas was discovered in the southern part of the country.
"We invite investors to come work with us in oil and gas exploration ... and even in investing in industries that will add more value by producing gas-related products," a statement from President Jakaya Kikwete's office quoted him telling a delegation from the UAE, Reuters said.
Tanzania has licensed at least 18 international companies to carry out exploration of offshore and onshore energy reserves.
BG Group, Ophir Energy and Statoil have all discovered gas off the coast of Tanzania.
