UECC Launches Second LNG Powered PCTC in China

United European Car Carriers (UECC) on June 30 launched its second dual-fuel car carrier – the TBN Auto Energy

The launch took place at NACKS shipyard in Nantong, China.

“It is a ground-breaking moment seeing our second LNG  pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) vessel, one of the most technically advanced PCTC’s ever build on the water. After the successful launch of the sister vessel earlier, we have been looking forward to this day as well,” said Thomas Ekhaugen, Head of Fleet & Cargo Handling.

With a capacity of approximately 3,800 cars, including 6,000 square metre of high and heavy cargo, she will be the largest dual fuel LNG PCTC in the world with the ability of loading cargo on 10 decks with a maximum cargo weight of 160MT, UECC said in a statement.

Earlier this year the company launched its first dual-fuel LNG PCTC vessel, TBN Auto Eco, at NACKS shipyard. UECC is jointly owned by Japan's Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Sweden's Wallenius Line.
