UK Offers Up Rhum Gas Acreage
The UK’s Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) is offering up exploration rights to acreage surrounding the Rhum gas field in the northern North Sea, the agency reported on August 1.
Blocks 3/24c and 3/29c will be presented to investors in a restricted “out of round” offer separate to the UK’s main licensing round currently underway, but the application process will be the same. Applications should be filed via the petroleum licence applications repository (Larry) on the OGA’s energy portal.
Operators have until October 30 to submit bids, with award decisions expected in the fourth quarter.
The Rhum gas field is controlled by UK-based Serica Energy and IOC. It lies in block 3/29a, and is connected via pipeline to a platform at the late-life Bruce gas project, also operated by Serica.
The UK launched its 32nd offshore licensing round earlier this month, with up to 768 blocks across the country’s continental shelf up for grabs.
