UK's Centrica Restructures Global Operations
Leading UK energy utility Centrica is making organisational changes, it said February 8, creating two new divisions – a global business and a global residential operation – reflecting the similarities that each sector exhibits wherever where Centrica is active.
There was also the need to replace Badar Khan, formerly the CEO of Centrica's Supply and Services division in North America, who has now joined the executive committee of UK infrastructure owner National Grid. His last day at Centrica is March 6, the effective date of the other changes.
In the reorganisation, Mark Hodges will become CEO of one of the new divisions, Centrica Consumer, with responsibility for all B2C activities globally. Similarly, Mark Hanafin will take on the role of CEO, Centrica Business, with similar responsibility for all B2B activities.
Hodges will continue to lead the UK Home, Ireland and Connected Home businesses and will also assume responsibility for North America Home. The president of North America Home, Manu Asthana, will now report to Hodges.
Hanafin will continue to lead the midstream, marketing and trading operations and also assume responsibility for UK Business and North America Business. Reporting to him will be John Schultz, who runs the North America Business and Gab Barbaro, who runs the UK Business units.
Chris Cox will continue to run the upstream business and will now report directly to overall CEO Iain Conn (pictured).

Conn said in a statement that Centrica’s strategy is to focus on the changing needs of its household and business customers and the restructuring would enable "a more coherent strategy built around the end-customer and gives us the ability to ensure capability is developed globally and efficiently in support of that strategy."
