Press TV: Ukraine radicals threaten gas flow to Europe: Putin
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has expressed concern that "radicals" in Ukraine may disrupt the supply of Russian natural gas to Europe.
Addressing a gathering of international oil and gas executives on Saturday, Putin added that Russia’s strategic energy sector should not be interrupted by politics.
"We are seriously concerned about statements by Ukrainian radicals, their direct threats to interrupt the transit of gas," the Russian president said. “We hope common sense will prevail and it won’t happen,” he added.
Russia provides about half of Ukraine’s and 30 percent of Europe's total gas demand with key pipelines that go through the Ukrainian territory.
