Ukraine: Shale of "National Importance"
Ukraine has designated shale gas and quartzite-like sandstone as minerals of national importance.
The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of decision was stipulated in cabinet resolution No. 718 of July 6.
NAK Naftogaz Ukrainy’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer Vadym Chuprun has said that Ukraine has the potential to extract 1.5 trillion to 2.5 trillion cubic meters of shale gas. The estimate was provided by the US Geological Survey.
