Ukraine Stops Reverse Gas Supplies from Poland
Ukraine's Naftogaz stopped reverse gas supplies from Poland due to high prices.
"There's no gas in Poland at the right price for Naftogaz," Ukrtransgaz CEO Serhiy Vynokurov said on Wednesday.
In August, Ukraine’s Energy Minister Eduard Stavytsky said that the country Ukraine would cut Russian gas imports in 2014 by doubling imports from Europe, explaining that Kiev started replacing traditional gas imports from Russia with fuel purchased on the European spot markets. Over the summer, Ukraine paid $2 less for European gas than gas from Russia.
Apart for imports from Germany through Poland, Ukraine began importing from Hungary in April 2013. It is negotiating deliveries from Romania and Slovakia.
